Everyone trying to lose weight knows that if they only consume less than they normally do, they could overcome the battle of the bulge. The problem lies however in actually being able to consume smaller portions and being satisfied or not feeling immensely hungry, here is where a sensible appetite suppression regimen can be embarked upon, so that one consumes a healthy portion of food and is able to function normally in the hours after eating. Everyone knows the age old saying that ‘we should eat to live and not live to eat’ but this is easier said than done. If this were easy everyone would have been eating fruits and veggies daily for every meal, but this would be in an ideal world. And because we are living in a far from perfect world, we need to adapt sensible strategies to control our eating. With this in mind I have detailed five ways below that we can adapt to suppress our appetite;

1.      Have your three small meals every day, that is, breakfast, lunch and dinner; this might sound weird but eating regularly prevent one from overeating since you are not very hungry all the time. It is also essential to get a 100 calories snack in between these meals. This method of eating makes persons feel full through the day so when they do go to eat something, it has to be small since they do not have the appetite to full themselves up

2.      Drink a twelve ounce glass of water about 5-10 minutes before eating this makes you feel full so that when you go to eat your food,  you  would eat less

3.      Divide your plate into half, full one half with vegetables and the other put your cooked food, ensure you eat the veggies first then go to the other food. Loading up on vegetables fills you up with healthy fibers and very little calories, making room for only small amounts of other foods. What this strategy does is that it ensures that little calories are consumes but the body is nourished and you feel full for a long time afterwards.

4.      Train your brain to be satisfied with small portions, this can very well be achieved. Just put your food in a smaller that usual plate and ensure that they are no spaces in the plate. This trick fools your brain into thinking that you have a lot of food to eat, hence when you are finished you feel satisfied.

5.      Finally if all the other methods fail to bring success you can always resort to diet pills or weight loss supplements to suppress your appetite, remember that this should be investigated thoroughly and if you are buying over the counter ensure you purchase one that is FDA approved as being safe or has the approval of health professionals. Diet pills are extremely effective in controlling hunger but one needs to use safe pills that are virtually free of side effects

There you have it 5 effective ways of suppressing your appetite so that you can lose that weight in 2013.
